October 3, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Canadian managed Internet infrastructure and Web hosting service provider Q9 Networks Inc. (Q9.com) announced on Wednesday that it has opened a new 22,000 square foot Internet data center in downtown Calgary.

The new facility, says Q9, is the company?s third data center, and marks Q9?s entry into Western Canada. The Calgary facility offers businesses in Alberta a complete spectrum of Infrastructure and hosting solutions for critical Internet Applications. Q9 says it can meet needs ranging from economical managed servers and traditional colocation space to high-end services like managed firewalls, backup, load balancing and virtual private networks.

According to Q9, the facility was engineered for 100 percent uptime, incorporating multiple power feeds, UPS backup, emergency diesel generators, redundant HVAC systems and advanced fire detection and suppression systems.

The data center is also supported by Q9?s unique high-availability network of equipment and data links connected to multiple Internet backbones.

And, in combination with the company?s Toronto and Brampton data centers, Q9?s Calgary facility will allow the company to offer enhanced business continuity and disaster recovery services.

"In an industry undergoing rapid consolidation and a high degree of uncertainty, this announcement demonstrates Q9's belief that there is continued strong demand for a focused, committed and financially stable provider of Internet infrastructure and managed Web hosting services," says Osama Arafat, CEO of Q9 Networks. "Calgary, with the second highest number of corporate head offices in the country, was the natural choice for our initial expansion into Western Canada."
