November 17, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center infrastructure provider Q9 Networks (q9.com) announced on Thursday that it has signed an existing customer to a new five-year agreement valued at approximately $20 million.
In addition to extending the term of its current installation at Q9′s facility in downtown Calgary, Canada, the customer will outsource additional infrastructure currently hosted in-house and become an anchor tenant of the new Calgary facility. Once the contracted services are fully provisioned, roughly half of the customer’s infrastructure outsourced to Q9 will be colocated in the new facility.
“The new facility, combined with our original Calgary data center, provides an unbeatable combination for both new and existing customers that seek the highest levels of IT performance, security and reliability,” says Osama Arafat, CEO of Q9 Networks. “We are committed to growing with our customers and delivering a complete suite of cost-effective infrastructure solutions to this key market.”
Slated for a spring 2007 opening, Q9′s new Calgary data center offers facilities and services, including physical space, reliable power and cooling and round the clock operational support. The facilities will be highly secure, equipped with biometric security systems, video surveillance and on-site security officers and features highly redundant power and HVAC systems along with sophisticated fire detection and suppression systems.
