Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

July 20, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- PW Registry Corporation (pwregistry.pw) announced on Monday that it has started a 30-day public comment period on its proposed policies for the .pw top-level domain.

PW Registry is the ICANN-delegated sponsor for the .pw domain, which stands for "personal web." PW is a dual-purpose top-level domain. It operates both as a registry for permanent email addresses as well as the country-code top-level domain for the Republic of Palau.

According to the company, PW Registry is implementing the comment period in order to reach out to the global Internet community about its plans for the .pw TLD, helping ensure the interoperability between it and other parts of the domain name system and Internet.

The .pw TLD features use of the DNS "wildcard" mechanism. Any string ending in .pw will take users to a .pw Web site. Wildcarding is also used to offer email forwarding email addresses. PW Registry said its use of wildcarding complies with ICANN recommendations made in light of the controversy over VeriSign's Site Finder service, which was shut down after critics objected to the anti-competitiveness of redirecting misspelled domains to Verisign-sponsored Web sites.
