(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider Pryme Technologies (www.pryme.net) announced on Thursday it has signed an agreement in which FiberLight (www.fiberlight.com) will provide the network backbone for high bandwidth transport from Pryme’s new colocation facility in Ashburn, Virginia, to FiberLight’s Ashburn POP at Equinix.
FiberLight’s underground fiber optic infrastructure is one the largest privately owned fiber optic network in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.
The fully redundant facility is the logical provider of choice for Pryme for its new, fully redundant, Tier III 72,000-square-foot data center.
Additionally, the fiber optic connection to Pryme’s data center further solidifies FiberLight’s strong footprint in Northern Virginia.
FiberLight will provide Pryme’s customers with access options to its 400-mile private metro network connecting Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
“This partnership opportunity is a win-win for both companies as it allows us to extend our footprint while providing Pryme’s customer base with state-of-the-art SONET, Ethernet, Wavelengths, IP and private network solutions in a carrier-neutral environment,” says Ben Edmond, FiberLight EVP of sales and marketing. “We maintain multiple operational offices in the greater D.C. market including one in Herndon, Virginia and provide 24-by-7 monitoring through two fully redundant NOCs, which gives Pryme customers added security to transport mission-critical data for data storage and applications.”
FiberLight provides Ethernet, wavelengths, IP, SONET, and Dark Fiber optical transport network solutions to telecom carriers, government, enterprise, content providers and web centric businesses.
