Hosting provider Project Hosts is making its software-as-a-service solutions (including Microsoft PPM, SharePoint and Dynamics CRM) available on a Windows Azure cloud infrastructure that meets the necessary security assessments required by US government offices and agencies.
Last week, Microsoft announced that Windows Azure had been granted Provisional Authorization to Operate (P-ATO) from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Joint Authorization Board (JAB).
On Tuesday, Project Hosts announced that it is making its SharePoint, CRM and PPM solutions available on the FedRAMP JAB-approved Azure platform to provide SaaS and cloud services specifically geared towards government agency requirements. These custom solutions offer dedicated environments with the customized security, applications and real-time reporting that US government offices and agencies require.
“With Azure’s FedRAMP P-ATO approval, and FISMA / NIST standards compliance, we can deliver Microsoft SharePoint, CRM and PPM SaaS solutions to far more U.S. Government agencies and departments,” Project Hosts CEO and co-founder Scott Chapman said in a statement. “This gives us tremendous leverage into the US government market, as does our ten year history and expertise in hosting Microsoft solutions and the deployments we’ve done for the EPA, US Treasury and other agencies.”
Project Hosts, for instance, hosted the deployment of Microsoft Project Server 2010 for the EPA Office of Water, leading to it doubling its project management maturity level, increased scheduling accuracy by 50 percent, and possibly saving up to $1.9 million from productivity gains.
It’s crucial that cloud service providers and agencies get Authority to Operate documents that meet FedRAMP’s security requirements before the June 2014 FedRAMP deadline. Yet, since October 1st, a government standstill has forced 800,000 US government workers off the job and the suspension of non-essential services. This has undoubtedly set agencies back in terms of their plans to offer employees cloud solutions.
