Christian Heutger of PSW Group presents a Tuesday session
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In one of the final rounds of Tuesday sessions at WorldHostingDays, Christian Heutger, CEO of PSW Group delivered a presentation on how web hosting providers can profit from offering security services.
PSW group, he says, is Germany’s leading provider of SSL certificates.
He says ecommerce is growing in popularity, and in market size, but customers still cancel transactions if a site doesn’t appear to be secure. He cites research that says 70 percent of online shoppers have cancelled a transaction because a site wasn’t secure, but of those, 53 percent would have continued if the site had contained a security seal.
There is a profit opportunity for hosting providers in reselling security services to customers.
In addition to SSL certs, PSW Group offers Comodo HakerProof, VeriSign’s trust seal, HackerGuardian, VIP Mobile, DNSSEC and secure CDN.
The company offers up to 256-bit SSL certs, in either domain validated, identity validated or extended validation versions. The certificates are supplied by VeriSign, Comodo and GlobalSign.
Most of the other products are things we’ve covered before.
Comodo’s HackerProof is a malware website scanning tool that delivers website operators a report on their site’s protection against malware, and places a seal on the website.
VeriSign’s Trust Seal is similar. It’s a proof of identity, as well as a daily malware scan. It delivers a seal customers can display on their site.
HackerGuardian is a PCI security scanning product that also provides recommendations on how solve security problems with a site. The service also produces a compliance report that can be taken to credit card processors to demonstrate compliance.
The VIP Mobile product is a VeriSign identity protection product for mobile devices, enabling them to act as a token.
DNSSEC offers security around the domain name system, ensuring web users that they are indeed visiting the url they intended too.
The secure CDN is a content delivery network that uses HTTPS and token authentication.
Becoming a PSW reseller, says Heutger, gives you instant access to all the companies, with great margins and round-the-clock support in German, English, Spanish and Polish.
