Port 80 Unveils ZipEnable Compression

HTTP compression is embedded into the core Web server code in IIS 6.0. According to Joseph Lima, chief operating officer of Port 80 Software, the tight integration makes IIS 6 extremely fast and efficient. ZipEnable manages IIS 6.0 compression at the global, site, directory and file levels. The software installs quickly and includes a wizard for rapid multi-site compression deployment.

“Internet Information Services 6.0 is a powerful Web server that provides a more secure, scalable, high-performance Web infrastructure,” says Dennis Oldroyd, director of the Windows Server product group at Microsoft. “With Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0, customers can benefit from built-in compression to increase productivity, improve customer satisfaction, and drive revenue. Port80 Software’s ZipEnable tool supports the quick implementation and administration of IIS 6.0 compression on all versions of Windows Server 2003.”

“Competitors charge over $1000 per server to replace IIS 6 compression, a feature already included on Windows Server 2003 when you buy it,” says Lima. “We took a different tack and built ZipEnable to help customers get the absolute most from IIS 6′s built-in compression for a reasonable price.”
