POBox Hosting Targets 1&1 Customers

January 21, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK-based Web hosting firm POBox Hosting (poboxhosting.co.uk) announced on Thursday that it had begun promoting its services as an alternative for customers of European hosting giant 1&1 that might have been removed from Google’s UK regional search results.

As a result of Google’s reconfiguration to include only UK-based IP addresses in its UK only search results, says POBox, customers of 1&1, which uses a block of non-UK IP addresses, may fail to show up in the regional Google index.

POBox says it has arranged for easy migration by interested 1&1 customers.

“We are here to support UK business, and to allow them a quick and easy migration of their Web servers to a UK based company,” said Tim Poultney, Managing Director at POBox Hosting. “This will enable them to become re-listed by Google’s regional index as soon as possible. We appreciate that being listed effectively by Google is a very high priority for most UK business using the web as a source of obtaining customers.”
