Web hosting company PlusServer AG announced on Monday that it has acquired the hosting portfolio of synergetic AG in order to strengthen its position in the German managed hosting market.

As part of the transaction, PlusServer acquired synergetic’s individual managed hosting and ecommerce solutions, as well as shared hosting packages under the brand name “Loomes.” Digital MPLS fixed connections are also part of the hosting business segment at synergetic.

PlusServer is the managed hosting brand of intergenia AG. In an acquisition last year, intergenia added German managed hosting provider internet24 in an effort to make its managed hosting unit one of the leading providers in German-speaking countries.

“The additional capacity that we now have thanks to the takeover of the hosting area of synergetic AG, will strengthen our position as a market leader in the German managed hosting area again,” Thomas Strohe, PlusServer CEO said. “Both the hosting customers and employees of synergetic benefit in equal measure from the strong backing of a corporation which has been successful in the hosting market for more than 15 years.”

Synergetic’s servers are housed in its own data center in Wendlingen, near Stuttgart, according to the announcement.

Synergetic will focus on its other areas of business after selling off its hosting segment, primarily its agency division, which offers strategy, online marketing, and product management, among other services.

“synergetic AG has decided to concentrate on the business areas of ecommerce and agency service provision in the future,”  Markus Krämer, a member of the Managing Board of synergetic AG said. “In the increasingly competitive hosting market, the company has joined forces with PlusServer AG, in order to carry out the necessary future investments there. Therefore we can continue to serve customers with the usual quality, flexibility, and performance.”

Elsewhere in the German hosting market, wireless provider Vodafone launched a cloud and hosting service, targeting customers in the Frankfurt metropolitan area.
