November 16, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider The Planet-EV1 Servers (theplanet.com) announced on Wednesday it has added three high-performance dedicated servers to its data center line-up, offering advanced options for companies that anticipate increased traffic this holiday season. The servers are available in the company’s seven facilities located in both Houston and Dallas.
The Dell PowerEdge 840 servers offer up to 66 percent increased performance from previous generations, enabling them to more effectively run multiple applications, including file serving, email and databases. Customers can configure the servers to meet the needs of their developing businesses or extend the span of their growing operations.
“The holiday season requires customers to manage their hosting operations at absolute peak performance,” says Steve Kahan, VP of marketing for The Planet-EV1Servers. “Our new high-end server line-up provides capabilities required for high-intensity, database-driven Web sites where volume traffic loads require uninterrupted performance. Most importantly, we provide our customers with a tremendous price/performance equation to meet their specific business requirements.”
Based on Intel’s new Xeon 3060 Core 2 Duo processors, the 64-bit supported P3060 series includes P3060D, P3060DS and P3060DR. Customers can choose from either Windows or Linux operating systems, including Red Hat, Debian and CentOS. All three servers can be upgraded with 4GB or 8GB of DDR2-based memory, while both the P3060D and P3060DS can be upgraded with up to four hard drives.
