Pingdom Offers Promotional Discount
August 18, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Monitoring service provider Pingdom (pingdom.com) announced on Thursday it has temporarily reduced the price of its uptime monitoring service from its normal $119.40 annual fee to $0.40. The promotional discount ends on August 30.
Pingdom says it differs from other uptime monitoring services by focusing on providing the user with a hassle-free experience. Users can manage all their needs through the Web-based Pingdom control panel, which ranges from basic to more advanced options.
“In this business it seems to be the rule to have complicated price models, with different prices depending on how often checks are made, how many bytes are transferred, how long monitoring history should be kept, and so on,” says Sam Nurmi, owner and CEO of Pingdom. “We wanted to get away from all that unnecessary complexity, so we decided to offer the same package to everyone, and a very simple but competitive price model. We have received very positive feedback from our users, who seem to really appreciate our approach.”
