December 20, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), a recent phishing scam tried to trick owners of .ca domains to divulge login information by sending an email that appeared to come from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority.

CIRA, which operates the .ca registry, warned its users about the scam, which deceives recipients by sending scam emails from compliance@cira.cc. CIRA’s legitimate email address is compliance@cira.ca

CIRA reiterated in a statement that it never asks registrants to share login information via email.
