Perot Systems Acquires Tellurian

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT services and business solution provider Perot Systems (www.perotsystems.com) announced on Friday that it has acquired Tellurian Networks (www.tellurian.com), a managed services hosting provider of Electronic Medical Records and Practice Management applications to physician groups.

The financial details of the tranaction were not disclosed.

Newton, New Jersey-based Tellurian provides managed services hosting for physicians, using technology such as EMR and PM applications on a per-doctor and per-user basis.

Tellurian says its services enable physician groups to reduce costs and improve patient care.

Perot Systems, which provides healthcare solutions to primarily large practices and academic medical centers, acquired Tellurian to further expand its reach into the physician practice group market.

“We are pleased to welcome Tellurian’s associates to the Perot Systems global team,” says Peter Altabef, president and CEO of Perot Systems. “With its demonstrated expertise and commitment to operational excellence, Tellurian will enhance our expanding worldwide healthcare IT services capabilities.”

Additionally, Perot Systems’ Physician Solutions and Revenue Cycles Solutions groups provide small physician practices with “low cost alternatives to traditional integrated solutions,” says Chuck Lyles, president of the Perot Systems healthcare group.

The company has more than 23,000 associates located in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific. In 2007, the company reported revenues of $2.6 billion.

Following the acquisition, all Tellurian employees who are working from the company’s Newton and Los Angeles offices will join Perot Systems.

Currently, Tellurian’s hosting serves 94 physician clients in 565 practice locations, for a total of 13,000 physicians.
