June 11, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT security solutions provider Perimeter eSecurity (perimeterusa.com) announced on Wednesday it has acquired Edgeos (edgeos.com), a network and information security technology provider.
Edgeos is a network and information security technology company that focuses on enabling technology and network services organizations to provide security services to their customers through the Edgeos private labeled security services platform.
Perimeter has already fully integrated the Edgeos managed vulnerability service suite with Perimeter’s Vulnerability Management Solution Suite, which includes server and desktop AV, patch and configuration management and a number of network-based and CPE-based security services.
This enhanced internal and external scanning technology, combined with the online PCI questionnaire and optional consulting, provides significant enhancements to Perimeter’s PCI Compliance Solution Suite. The company says the suite supports Level 1, 2 and 3 Retail Merchants, as well as enables merchant banks to manage their Level 4 Merchants through a consolidated reporting and management console instead of manually distributing policies, collecting scans and reviewing questionnaires.
This enables merchant banks to cost-effectively maintain compliance with the recent clarifications issued by the PCI Security Standards Council and healthcare companies to demonstrate HIPAA compliance. Perimeter’s Vulnerability Management customers also have access to additional features. ”Edgeos’ notable advances in automated vulnerability assessment and its software as a service delivery model enhances our PCI Compliance Solution Suite and joins our menu of complete compliance solutions for financial institutions, brokers and traders, and healthcare companies,” says Doug Howard, chief strategy officer at Perimeter eSecurity. The suite also provides customers with unlimited internal and external vulnerability scans, while an added feature enables users to perform internal scans through a downloadable SaaS module on a subscription basis rather than buying incremental hardware.
Perimeter’s Core Vulnerability Management Solution Suite will offer customers and partners five options for both internal and external scanning in a fully managed or customer configured and managed suite external scanning offered from Perimeter’s network of nationwide data centers.
In January 2007, Perimeter acquired Message Secure, a managed security services provider for the banking and financial industry that offers the secure electronic delivery of sensitive and protected documents.
Perimeter launched a new service last month, adding automated and on-demand remote backup and recovery service to its existing set of services.
