March 17, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Enterprise application software provider PeopleSoft Inc. (PeopleSoft.com) announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Dakota State University, enabling colleges and universities to access PeopleSoft applications hosted remotely at Dakota State’s Center for Remote Enterprise Systems Hosting (CRESH).

The agreement, says PeopleSoft, is an extension of the company’s On Campus program with Dakota State University, designed to enable schools to integrate enterprise software into classroom work more quickly. The agreement represents the first national, remote access arrangement for academic use of PeopleSoft’s software. CRESH will operate as an academic application service provider, says PeopleSoft, and Wilmington College in Delaware is one of the first institutions expected to use the PeopleSoft solutions in its business school, starting in the fall 2003 semester.

“Business schools across the country are interested in using enterprise software in their course work, but not every school has the time, financial resources or technical expertise to support the complex infrastructure needed to manage such applications,” said John Webster, PeopleSoft programs director at Dakota State’s CRESH. “Through CRESH, we manage these applications for institutions, allowing students and teachers to instantly access PeopleSoft applications remotely over the internet through a standard web browser.”
