PEER 1 Offers SWsoft Plesk 8.2 Linux

October 3, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian Web hosting and colocation provider PEER 1 Network Enterprises (peer1.net) announced on Wednesday the company is now offering the latest SWsoft (swsoft.com) Plesk 8.2 for Linux control panel software for its managed hosting customers.

Plesk provides server administrators with an effective tool to manage their servers and websites, says the company. Plesk 8.2 features an intuitive interface that enables users with little or no technical expertise to create new email accounts and manage domains.

“The decision to incorporate the new version of the SWsoft Plesk control panel was an easy one for PEER 1,” says Ted Smith, VP of dedicated hosting for PEER 1. “SWsoft listens to customer feedback, suggestions, and other criteria and actually implements them in upgrades. This new version includes many features beneficial to our customers like the Single Sign-on feature that assists with user authentication, and allows users to go from one application to another without having to sign in for each one.”

The Plesk control panel automates various tasks to help service providers lower operating costs and resources. The new feature set also includes additional skins and the ability to customize, as well as improved security via a redesigned subsystem and support for third-party FTP servers to assist with secure uploads.

PEER 1 announced last week it deployed EMC storage area network platforms across all of its managed dedicated hosting data center operations in Atlanta, Georgia, Miami, Florida and Fremont, California.
