“Network performance has always been a major priority, with our network engineers constantly routing traffic and troubleshooting. This dedication to quality has made Peer 1 one of the most powerful and consistent network providers in the market today,” says Geoff Hampson, president and CEO of Peer 1 Network. “GLOBAL now gives our customers and their end-users even better performance.”

According to Peer 1 Network, customers can ensure their traffic travels along the shortest route possible from the Internet to their servers by signing up for GLOBAL and securing servers in at least two Peer 1 Network colocation facilities. The company said that latency-sensitive markets such as audio and video streaming and online gaming would benefit greatly from the service.

The company said GLOBAL can also serve as a disaster recovery plan. “No amount of network routing can help when an entire telecommunications hub is seriously disabled by a catastrophic event,” says Mark Teolis, chief technology officer for Pper 1 Network. “GLOBAL is designed in such a way that end-users wouldn’t know if one facility or the other were no longer available. All traffic for GLOBAL customers would instantly be routed to their next closest available server. End-users would be none the wiser.”

Peer 1, based in Canada, currently operates 8 facilities across North America and has plans to expand to Europe.
