PEER 1 Hosting Launches Microsoft Hosted Exchange Packages in the UK

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Due to its relationship with Microsoft (www.microsoft.com), international managed hosting provider PEER 1 Hosting (www.peer1.com) is now able to deliver Microsoft Hosted Exchange to small and medium businesses from its data center in the UK.

According to PEER 1’s Thursday announcement, its hosted Microsoft Exchange solution is scalable, secure and full-featured, giving users the ability to easily collaborate without them having to invest in mail servers, software licenses, security, or be involved with ongoing system administration. With the service being provided in the UK, customers will have the same features they expect from Hosted Exchange, but notice latency improvements and also be assured that their emails, for legal purposes, are stored within the EU .

“Customers want an easy and cost-efficient way of managing their IT infrastructure, inclusive of email services,” PEER 1 Hosting UK managing director Dominic Monkhouse said in a statement. “With our business class email packages, customers no longer need to provide or manage their own mail servers, backups, licensing or security. It is engineered to save customers time, effort and costs whilst offering unrivalled PEER 1 service and support.”

Exchange lets users share and access calendars, tasks, contacts, public folders, groups and global address books as well as synchronise from their desktop, mobile device, and the Web. Packages are now available and start at £7.50 (about $11.70) per mailbox per month.

The hosted Microsoft Exchange solution will be deployed through a Web-based automation platform to make managing the mail accounts easier, with customers being able to administer users and feature benefits. Each mailbox will have three gigabytes of storage, which will be pooled space on a per customer basis.

Safeguarding users, McAfee SaaS Email Protection will work outside the network to block more than 99 percent of spam, viruses, worms and harmful content. Customer emails will also be backed-up multiple times daily, and a 14-day file recovery feature is available at no extra charge.

Hosting customers will be able to benefit from PEER 1’s cutting edge technology with its 10Gb SuperNetwork backbone that delivers faster performance, low latency and no single point of failure. In addition, customers will benefit from outstanding customer support due to 24x7x365 FirstCall Support, ensuring a high class of service levels.

“Businesses are increasingly interested in communication and collaboration tools to improve productivity and reduce costs,” Microsoft communications sector worldwide hosting general manager John Zanni stated. “By offering hosted Microsoft Exchange as a service, PEER 1 Hosting is able to provide attractive IT options to its customers.”

In March 2009, PEER 1, which is based in Vancouver, Canada, expanded into Europe with the opening of its new European headquarters in Southampton, UK.

PEER 1 Hosting has also been recently active in North America. Earlier this month, its dedicated hosting division, ServerBeach (www.serverbeach.com), announced the availability of its hosting services in Canada, marking the first time parent company PEER 1 Hosting has provided all three hosting services — managed hosting, dedicated hosting and colocation — in Canada.
