PEER 1 ATL Center Withstands Storms

March 20, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider PEER 1 Networks (peer1.com) announced on Thursday that its customer service at its Atlanta, Georgia facility remained unaffected during last weekend’s tornado and severe storms.

The company says it maintained its 100 percent uptime commitment to customers during the treacherous Atlanta weather, as its data center staff implemented the company’s strategic crisis planning.

“This storm clearly shows that our customers can be secure in the knowledge that their online business will not be interrupted in the event of a natural disaster or any other crisis,” says Ted Smith, VP of operations for PEER 1. “In this instance, our staff worked around-the-clock amidst the storm to continue to provide the service our customers have come to expect.”

Armed with 17 points-of-presence across North America connected together by a fully redundant network with 15 state-of-the-art data centers in 12 cities, PEER 1 says it is able to avoid network disruptions at any time. If an area of the network is ever at risk, PEER 1 says its technical team quickly responds to reroute data flow to another region of the network.

During the storms, PEER 1 employees from other data centers throughout the country, including Miami, Florida, Fremont, California and San Antonio, Texas were fully prepared to step in as necessary for both technical and customer service issues.

Earlier this week, network infrastructure provider Juniper Networks announced that PEER 1 is using Juniper’s M-series Multiservice Edge Routers in all its major points of presence around the world.
