July 12, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Online payment service PayPal (paypal.com) announced on Wednesday that PayPal Data Services is opening a new data center in Austin, Texas.
The company says its plans on hiring hundreds of local technical professionals in the next three years and it is now accepting resumes from experienced applicants. PayPal says it is currently looking for technical professionals with expertise in product development, infrastructure, architecture, design, risk and engineering.
“Austin is well-known for its strong pool of well-educated, talented professionals with the right level of expertise in technology and e-commerce,” says Matthew Mengerink, VP of core technologies for PayPal. “The area’s reputation as a great place to live and work makes it an ideal location for our center. We look forward to working with this large base of talented professionals and supporting the local community.”
PayPal Data Services is a subsidiary of PayPal and employs technology and engineering professionals who are helping to build PayPal’s global payment platform.
PayPal also recently pointed the finger at European Web hosts for not taking a more proactive stance against phishers and for not shutting down their Web sites more promptly.
