(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting software provider Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Monday that registration for its upcoming Parallels Summit 2009 (www.parallels.com/summit) has already surpassed 1,000 individuals, marking the vendor-sponsored conference as the “biggest event in the hosting industry,” according to the press release.

In comparison, last year’s 3rd Annual Parallels Summit 2008 in Washington, D.C. drew in an attendance of more than 700.

Sponsors of the event, held Feb 2 to 4 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, include some of the world’s top technology companies including Gold sponsors Intel, Microsoft, and Enom, along with Silver sponsors AMD, OpenSRS, Mesh.eu, ZT Systems, R1Soft, WebhostingDay 2009, Open-Xchange, Cloudmark, Verisign, ePages, InterNetX, Sarito, Acronis, and Global Relay.

The annual conference will also include a hands-on technical lab for Parallels solutions, sponsored by HP.

This year’s event will focus on how end-user organizations can optimize their IT through cloud computing, software as a service, and the implementation of virtualization and automation technologies.

These technologies enable businesses to reduce their total costs of IT ownership and increase productivity as well as earn strong potential revenue streams for independent software vendors, the channel and service providers.

The event is free for Parallels customers, partners and anyone interested in learning more about how virtualization and automation software can optimize their use of technology.

In addition to the product, strategy and insight sessions, attendees are invited to two networking events, which include an opening reception on Monday night and a Parallels Plesk Panel 9.0 Launch Party at Mix Lounge on Tuesday night.

The Parallels Summit 2009 features keynotes by industry leaders and innovators, as well as a panel session entitled “Weathering the Storm: Finding Silver in the Clouds.” Speakers include Morris Miller, founder of Rackspace; Bernie Meyerson, CTO and VP of strategic alliances at IBM; Paul Ghostine, VP and GM of the desktop virtualization group at Quest; Dylan Larson, director of server platforms at Intel; Bill McNee, founder of Saugatuck Technology and Andreas Gauger, founder of 1&1.

Sixapart’s Micheal Sippey will discuss the advantages and complexities of social media and explain how business and technical professionals can take advantage.

“We are pleased to be welcoming such an impressive group of globally recognized industry leaders and innovators to the Parallels Summit 2009,” says Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “Current economic conditions create unique opportunities for those in the hosting industry with foresight and agility to execute and capture those rewards.  Attendees will be given a rare opportunity to network with industry heavyweights and share insights on important computing trends such as cloud computing, virtualization, software as a service, automation, and more.”

Individuals can still register on the Parallels Summit 2009 website, reserve hotel accommodation or become a sponsor.
