February 13, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Parallels (parallels.com), a Web hosting software provider that until recently was known as SWsoft, and software as a service provider Smart Online (smartonline.com), announced on Wednesday that they have launched the Parallels SaaS Development Kit.
The SaaS Development Kit is a suite of software development tools that enable independent software vendors to offer low-cost SaaS applications for the more than 10,000 service providers worldwide that use Parallels solutions. ”Through continued collaboration with the industry, Parallels is advancing a unified platform to help our customers and partners take advantage of SaaS with minimal effort and cost,” says Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “Service providers and ISVs can use these development tools to offer a broad range of SaaS applications and grow their businesses.” The Parallels SaaS Development Kit builds on the application packaging standard by offering comprehensive documentation and development tools, such as virtualization templates. The Parallels open platform enables SaaS with Parallels virtualization and automation technology through integration with a range of third-party applications and systems.
Parallels announced yesterday that Web hosting provider Media Temple has surpassed 10,000 virtual environments using Parallels Virtuozzo Containers virtualization software.
