(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Virtualization and automation software developer Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Thursday a detailed agenda, including featured speakers, for its fourth annual Parallels Summit 2009 (http://www.parallels.com/summit/).
This year’s event will be held from February 2 to 4 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, a change in venue from the 2008 event that was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC in May, and counter-programming the convention season, which typically runs during the spring and summer.

According to the company’s most recent announcement, some of the key topics that will be covered at the three-day event include cloud computing, software as a service, automation and virtualization, which are “all part of the Parallels Optimized Computing vision.” These discussions will be spread across the service provider track, enterprise IT track, industry track and technology track.
Featured speakers include Bernie Meyerson, VP strategic alliances and CTO server business at IBM; Dylan Larson, director of server platforms at Intel; Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of Go Daddy; Morris Miller, founder of Rackspace; Andreas Gauger, former CEO of 1&1 Internet; Guillaume Bouchard, president and CEO of nvisolutions.com; Bill McNee, Founder and CEO of Saugatuck Technology; Antonio Piraino, Senior Analyst at Tier1 Research and of course, Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels.
As with past events, this year’s summit will also include hands-on technical labs for learning more about Parallels’ products, including Parallels Automation, Parallels Plesk Panel, Parallels Plesk Billing, Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and Parallels Desktop for Mac.
“This marks the first year that Parallels Summit will expand to include the enterprise, ISV and hosting provider audiences,” says Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “Parallels Summit 2009 is the biggest event in hosting, giving attendees practical insights and providing business opportunities that companies cannot afford to miss in these uncertain times. This is a must-attend event if you are involved in virtualization, SaaS, hosting, or cloud computing.”
Of the over 1,000 expected attendees for the event, says Parallels, guests will have the opportunity to mingle and schmooze at two evening networking events including an opening reception on the first evening, and the Parallels Plesk Panel 9 party at the Mix Lounge, located on the top floor of Mandalay Bay, the following evening.
Last month, WHIR spoke to Parallels product marketing manager Ravi Pimplaskar, who discussed some of the plans for the event, and its growing importance to the web hosting industry at large.
