Parallels Plesk Panel 9 Released

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Hosting and virtualization software developer Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Tuesday that it has officially launched version 9 of its Parallels Plesk Panel hosting control panel.

The product has been in open beta for months, and was officially released to partners several weeks ago. At the time, we spoke to marketing manager Ravi Pimplaskar for a feature on the new features in the new software.

That feature is here, and it discusses the major Plesk 9 advances in depth.

Version 9 is the first major release of the software since Plesk 8 was released in 2006. The major new features in the new release include a tighter integration with the APS application catalog, a reseller user designation, integration with Parallels Plesk Billing, a new Vista-like theme and a backup and restore function.

“Having one of the world’s largest deployments of hosted VPS solutions running Parallels Plesk Panel, Media Temple is proof that its performance and value is unmatched in the market,” says Demian Sellfors, CEO of web host Media Temple, quoted in the press release. “With the integration with the APS Catalog and Parallels Plesk Billing, as well as a multitude of optimizations, we’re anticipating increased revenue, lower operating costs and record breaking levels of customer satisfaction. Media Temple holds itself to a high standard of quality and Parallels Plesk Panel 9.0 will continue that tradition.”

The product is available in a selection of pricing models – retail, lease or through the partner program – and seven languages. Screenshots, tutorials and a demo of the new product are all available in the Plesk section of the Parallels website.

In a bulleted list, the press release for the product describes some of the main enhancements as including a much easier to use interface, a greater opportunity to profit through add-on applications and a more complete and extensible product overall.

“The increased functionality of Parallels Plesk Panel 9.0 creates a complete and easy end-user experience for individuals and businesses of all sizes,” says Parallels CEO Serguei Beloussov, also quoted in the release. “The integration of the APS Catalog and Parallels Plesk Billing 6.0 enables service providers and resellers to build more profitable full-featured offerings to increase their revenue streams.”
