Parallels Adds Support for Microsoft Exchange 2010

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Automation and virtualization provider Parallels (www.parallels.com) announced on Tuesday it will soon offer support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 in its Parallels Automation product following the release of Microsoft’s service later this year.

Parallels recently announced at its Parallels EMEA Roadshow that it has added support for Microsoft Office Communications Server R2 to its Parallels Automation offering, providing web hosts with a fully integrated unified communications solution for SMBs.

Released in beta back in April, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 is the first server in a new generation of Microsoft server technology built from the ground up to function as an online service.

According to the press release, Exchange Server 2010 has many new features to help achieve greater levels of reliability and performance, protect communications, and meet customers’ demands for greater business mobility.

The new version builds on the capabilities introduced in Exchange Server 2007, with a new high availability architecture that provides a unified framework for both high availability and disaster recovery.

Ultimately, this allows greater uptime for end users, increased flexibility for administrators, and decreased capital and operational costs for the organization.

Exchange Server 2010 also requires less storage performance and is more tolerant of storage failures, so SMBs can provide larger mailboxes at lower cost without sacrificing system availability.

Parallels Automation lets users deliver SaaS applications including Microsoft Exchange, Windows SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Communications Server in a hosted environment, on a monthly subscription basis.

“Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 represents an exciting opportunity for hosters and cloud services providers to deliver world-class unified communications to meet the growing communications needs of SMBs,” says Jack Zubarev, president of Parallels Service Provider Division. “Parallels is proud to enable support for Hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.”
