January 14, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Antivirus solution provider Panda Software (pandasoftware.com) announced Thursday that it has become a corporate sponsor of the Anti-Phishing Working Group, an association made up of IT security representatives aiming to combat phishing scams.

Phishing scams have plagued the Internet, using fake email messages, pop-ups and Web sites to access personal financial data. The rampant problem is escalating, increasing by 180 percent between April and May 2004, according to APWG data.
