Microsoft announced on Monday that it has integrated Skype into Outlook.com for its customers in the UK, Germany, Brazil, France, Canada, and the US, with more countries around the world to be added soon.
This announcement comes less than a week after a small number of Outlook.com and SkyDrive customers had issues accessing the services.
With Skype integration, Outlook.com users can make video calls from within their inbox. According to a recent Ipsos Public Affairs poll 76 percent of people say email conversations frequently or occasionally result in a follow up phone or video call.
“Those moments are perfect for Skype and now, face-to-face connection right from your inbox is just a click away,” Dawn Martynuik, group product manager, Outlook.com said in a blog post announcing the integration.
Microsoft launched Outlook.com last July, emphasizing simplicity with its design. Outlook.com has focused on social integration from the beginning, offering integration with Google+, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
