(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Open-source collaboration software developer Open-Xchange (www.open-xchange.com) announced on Thursday that it has established partnerships with Web hosting providers Lunarpages (www.lunarpages.com) and Cirrus Tech Ltd. (www.cirrushosting.com), where both companies will make Open-Xchange email and groupware available to customers.
Open-Xchange says its solution integrates email, calendar, contact and task management with groupware features like information management, document sharing and social network integration.
“We’re on our way towards 40 million users this year – nearly doubling the number at the close of 2010,” Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange said in a statement. “These service providers are both upgrading their existing e-mail provided to their customers, and building an opportunity to expand their business with their existing customers, as well as attract new customers by offering additional value-added services – all at a lower cost than traditional proprietary vendors.”
According to the press release, Lunarpages will upgrade its existing email software to the AJAX-based web interface in Open-Xchange webmail. Lunarpages will also offer its more than 150,000 customers additional groupware and mobility features.
Cirrus Tech plans to integrate its VoIP system with Open-Xchange. The company says Open-Xchange provides an alternative to its Hosted Microsoft Exchange service. Cirrus is using OXtender for Plesk to provide customers with greater integration and management of groupware.
Open-Xchange says its service is easily integrated into existing infrastructure without altering the existing authentication, user setup, system administration, provisioning and billing tools. With Open-Xchange’s mobility support option, users can synchronize contacts, calendar and other information from their account to mobile devices.
