(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Open-source collaboration software developer Open-Xchange (www.open-xchange.com) will be hosting its second world-wide partner event November 4, 2010, in Cologne, Germany, where about 200 attendees are expected to gather to learn from experts and from each other how to advance their businesses using email and collaboration services.
According to Open-Xchange, the event is free for qualified attendees, and will take place on November 4 in at KölnSky, which is located next to the famous Cologne cathedral (Kölner Dom) on the Rhine river.
Open-Xchange provides enterprise-class email, as well as calendar, address book, document and task management both as an on-premises solution and as Software-as-a-Service. Open-Xchange relies on a board partner ecosystem to deliver its collaboration services.
“Our partner community is key to our success as we do 100 percent indirect sales in cooperation with our partners – and never compete with them selling directly to end customers like our competitors, Microsoft and Google,” Open-Xchange chief executive officer Rafael Laguna said in a statement. “More than 120 enthusiastic participants attended the first Open-Xchange Partner Summit and helped us to increase the number of Open-Xchange users by 80 percent to more than 15 million in 2009. This year, we expect more than 200 industry experts at our annual conference.”
The event’s theme will be “Mega-trends” in cloud computing, SaaS and mobility, and feature strategies, technologies and best practices to enable system integrators and resellers to benefit from these trends using Open-Xchange in conjunction with hosting partners, ISPs and telecoms companies.
Gartner research vice president of collaboration and social software Jeffrey Mann was recently announced as a speaker. Drawing on his research into social software, team workspaces, the collaboration market and knowledge management, Mann will provide an in-depth look into top industry trends for cloud and collaboration and sharing ideas and strategies for system integrators, hosting providers, independent software vendors and channel partners.
Laguna will also present exclusive previews and live demos of upcoming Open-Xchange technologies and products. Open-Xchange sales and marketing executive vice president Frank Hoberg will explain how channel partners can take advantage of Open-Xchange’s on-premises and SaaS offerings in different market segments.
As well, other industry executives from companies such as eZuce, Scality and Univention will provide perspectives on integration, Unified Communication and scalability.
Headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, Open-Xchange has a growing world-wide partner ecosystem including 1&1 Internet, Network Solutions, France’s OVH and Switzerland’s Hostpoint. Most recently, Open-Xchange announced an exclusive distribution agreement with software distributor Next IT (www.nextit.jp), effectively bringing hosted and on-premises Open-Xchange products to Japan.
Open-Xchange also recently added numerous enhancements to its social networking-enabled platform known as “SocialOX”, as well as improvements to make sharing data easier with Open-Xchange’s “Publish” feature, which enables users to announce a new publication to friends and colleagues.
