(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Open-source collaboration software provider Open-Xchange (www.open-xchange.com) and German email security provider eleven (www.eleven.de) have agreed on comprehensive technical cooperation to easily add email security to all Open-Xchange products.
With more than 10 million users, Open-Xchange Hosting Edition enables web hosting companies to provide an easy-to-use, feature-rich application delivered as Software as a Service. Combined with eleven’s email security solution eXpurgate, web hosts, ISPs and telecoms can create an email solution with a security that is scalable, easy to integrate, and offers a spam detection rate of more than 99 percent.
“With Open-Xchange and eleven, web hosts can offer their customers not only a cost-effective and professional package, but also an optimally protected email solution,” eleven founder and chief executive officer Robert Rothe said in a statement. In addition, eXpurgate will be integrated as a premium option in the Open-Xchange products aimed at companies that want to operate their email server in-house.
Open-Xchange and eleven will be showcasing their partnership at the Parallels Summit in Miami, which runs from Monday, February 22 to Wednesday, February 24 February. It will also be presented in Europe at WebhostingDay, March 17 to 18, 2010, in Cologne, Germany.
More than 30,000 businesses of all sizes rely on eXpurgate to check and categorize more than 1 billion emails every day. Alongside ISPs and carriers such as T-Online, O2, Vodafone and freenet, eleven’s client base includes many well-known companies and public institutions such as Air Berlin, the Free University of Berlin, Landesbank Berlin, and Mazda.
“Effective spam and virus protection is essential for every email server. eleven products protect Open-Xchange users against viruses, spam and phishing emails,” Open-Xchange CEO Rafael Laguna stated. “Companies that run their Open-Xchange Server themselves benefit from this relationship as well as users that get Open-Xchange as Software-as-a-service from hosting providers, telcos and ISPs.”
Last year, the international user base of Open-Xchange grew 80 percent, making Open-Xchange’s worldwide user base total more than 15 million, and leading it to anticipate 26 million users in 2010.
