December 1, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center automation software developer Opalis Software (opalis.com) announced on Wednesday that it had closed an $8.5 million round of financing, bringing the company’s total funding to $20 million.
Sierra Ventures led the financing round, with participation from existing investors BDC Venture Capital and VenGrowth Private Equity Partners. Mark Fernandes and David C. Schwab of Sierra Ventures will join the Opalis board of directors.
“Opalis’s solution enables enterprises to achieve a truly automated data center,” says Fernandes. “We decided to invest in Opalis because the company has demonstrated real business value for its customers.”
Scott Broder, CEO of Opalis Software, says Opalis will use the funding to expand its worldwide sales and marketing efforts and build out the company’s channels and customer base.
Opalis, with a customer base of over 550 enterprises, recently released Integration Server version 5.0.
