(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Online Tech (www.onlinetech.com) announced on Tuesday it has launched OTVault, a new online data storage solution designed for secure, high volume online backup and archiving for businesses.
The cost effective solution backs up customers’ servers or archives data from any location into Online Tech’s secure, SAS70 certified data center.
The disaster recovery solution lets businesse align the online storage to their in house servers, where they use their current backup software to write backups and send critical data at Online Tech’s SAS70 certified data centers.
Rather than targeting consumers, laptops, or desktop backups, the solution is designed specifically for server backups that need 100GB to 10TB of online storage.
The Online Tech solution does not limit upload speeds or the amount of backup data which can be transferred each day. Instead, OTVault starts with over 50GB of data transfer per day and can be upgraded to higher speeds.
“With OTVault, our data is securely sent to SAS 70 certified data centers with redundant fail-safe systems,” says Cheryl Merino, a manager at Memsic. “We found OTVault to be a cost effective option for our disaster recovery.”
OTVault is priced at $199 for 100GB and $99 for each additional 100GB, making it a relatively cost effective alternative to traditional tape backup – a solution that is know for its high failure rates, physical security risks, and slow data recovery times.
The backup storage also eliminates the costs of tapes, hardware maintenance, offsite tape delivery and storage, and the personnel costs to manage the tape rotations.
To celebrate the launch, Online Tech is offering an OTVault trial free for 15 days.
Online Tech provides a range of services, including colocation, dedicated server hosting and managed services.
Another company recently began offering a backup storage solution.
Optical fiber network provider American Fiber Systems and eData Center partnered to provide customers with an environmentally-friendly data backup system.
