(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Log management, intrusion detection and cloud security solutions provider Alert Logic (www.alertlogic.com) announced on Wednesday that it has added IPv6 networking support to its Threat Manager solution and ActiveWatch managed service.

This news closely follows Alert Logic’s Monday announcement that it has proposed CloudLog as an informational request for comment to the standards track of the IETF.

Alert Logic says this support enables customers to migrate to IPv6 networks with confidence that security is being monitored.

According to Alert Logic, IPv6 networks “brings a host of new security challenges” and enterprises are unsure if “existing security solutions can effectively protect their networks against IPv6-based attacks.”

“Availability of IP address space has been deemed a business continuity issue by our service provider partners,” Urvish Vashi, vice president of marketing at Alert Logic said in a statement. “By leaving the security monitoring to Alert Logic during this complex transition, they can focus on expanding their portfolio to include new products and services.”

Alert Logic says its Threat Manager monitors both IPv6 networks and IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling to detect suspicious activities and attacks.

In January, many of the world’s largest Internet companies announced participation in a 24 hour test of IPv6 on June 8 as part of World IPv6 Day, which is organized by the Internet Society.
