NYI Completes SAS 70 Type II Audit

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The New York Internet Company (www.nyi.net) announced on Tuesday it has received a SAS 70 Type II audit, as set by standards put forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (www.aicpa.org).

The news follows last week’s announcement that the company is adding a data center in Bridgewater, New Jersey later in the year, whch will operate seamlessly with its  main data center in Lower Manhattan.

A Type II report includes the service organization’s description of controls as well as the detailed testing of the service organization’s controls over a minimum six-month period.

The audit was conducted by the auditing firm SAS 70 Corp., who also issued a favorable opinion of the NYI’s controls as part of its Type I audit back in January.

With this report, the New York Internet Company has successfully completed SAS 70 certification, assuring that NYI excels at the five elements of internal control – Control Environment, Risk Assessment, Control Activities, Information/Communication and Monitoring.

“For us, SAS 70 certification confirms what our customers, particularly those in the financial services industry, have known for years – NYI delivers to the highest possible standard,” says Phillip Koblence, vice president of The New York Internet Company.

The SAS 70 audit certifies that a provider has developed and set standard controls to manage its business and the delivery of its service to customers.

Other companies to recently complete SAS 70 Type II Audits include REDPLAID Managed Hosting, Host.net and Switch and Data.
