NTT Further Expands US Presence, Linking Denver to Its Global Network

The Denver Arcstar PoP provides an MPLS link between the western US and the Asia-Pacific region for the creation of sophisticated virtual private networks.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications provider NTT America (www.nttamerica.com) has extended its North American presence to Denver, Colorado with the launch of a point of presence for its Arcstar brand of global network services.

NTT America is the US subsidiary of global networking pioneer NTT Communications Corporation, which provides more than 100,000 Multiprotocol Label Switching ports across the world. MPLS provides traffic isolation and differentiation according to class-of-service parameters over the backbone. For instance, voice data can be prioritized over other information.

The new Arcstar PoP provides multi-national corporations with high-capacity, efficient, virtual private networks to support their global operations, particularly those in the Asia-Pacific region. Also, by extending MPLS virtual private network services to the western US, NTT America increases its ability to serve overseas companies investing in Colorado and the surrounding region.

“NTT America is committed to extending our North American reach and Denver is a key part of that strategy,” NTT America business development vice president Stephen Bloom said in a statement. “Based upon demand from our customers in the US and around the World, we identified Denver as a significant step in our US expansion, and are very pleased to be able to support the global requirements of companies who have invested in the region.”

Denver represents an economic, communications and transportation hub between the West Coast and the Mid-West, and is home to a number of high-tech industries including software development, data centers and call centers. It is also a key location for NTT America’s North American customers, and is a strong addition to NTT America’s expanding US network.

In June, NTT America announced plans to launch of an Arcstar PoP in Atlanta, where NTT America has been operating an Internet backbone node since 2006.
