NTT Com to Launch Cloud-based Hosting Service, "Biz Hosting Basic"

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Under the Japanese telecom’s BizCITY concept of providing secure, cloud-based access to enterprise services anywhere at anytime, NTT Communications Corporation (www.ntt.com) is readying a high-quality, cost-effective virtual hosting service to be offered in Japan.

According to NTT Com’s Tuesday announcement, Biz Hosting Basic will launch April 30, enabling customers to reduce management costs by consolidating or integrating servers, and also to reduce operational burdens through outsourcing. Ready-made offerings allow customers to meet their ICT needs quickly and flexibly.

The launch at the end of this week comes after a trial period from October 15, 2009 to March 31, 2010, in which some 60 participating companies helped to confirm the reliability and quality of NTT Com’s new virtual hosting service.

Leveraging NTT Com’s strengths as a telecom carrier, Biz Hosting Basic bundles services and a high-end network into a one-stop solution. Server resources dispersed nationwide ensures wide availability, and security equal to that of a private local-area network is possible with the use of a VPN.

Starting at 7,350 yen including tax (about $78) per virtual server, the price of Biz Hosting Basic remains relatively low because of NTT Com’s extensive network infrastructure, virtualization for efficient server operation and resource availability. NTT Com provides the core network line connecting Biz Hosting Basic with the customer’s network, freeing enterprises from having to manage bandwidth or worry about network costs. Biz Hosting Basic is also highly scalable, allowing users to easily expand with additional CPUs, memory and disk capacity.

NTT Com also plans to introduce a multi-factor authentication option that will enable independent software vendors to quickly deploy their own services by using Biz Hosting Basic to outsource server environments and customer authentication.

Biz Hosting Basic is in the same family as NTT Com’s Biz Hosting Enterprise, which launched in Japan in October 2009. Biz Hosting Enterprise evolved from the conventional Green Hosting Enterprise and added new features. Biz Hosting Enterprise offers reliable and robust Tier 3 or higher data centers, stable communication facilities and high-quality security services as well as the latest server virtualization technologies.
