NTT Com Adds Shanghai Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — NTT Communications (www.ntt.com) announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with China Telecom Shanghai, a subsidiary of fixed and mobile phone operator China Telecom Group (en.chinatelecom.com.cn), to launch the Tier 3 Yuanqu Data Center in Shanghai on February 2.

NTT Com also announced that the data center will introduce Global e-VLAN point of presence to provide international wide-area Ethernet service, which includes protocol-free, meshed, secure, high bandwidth Ethernet connectivity.

The Eternet virtual LAN switch enables customers to connect their servers and systems to a high-speed backbone network located at the data center, helping them reduce connection costs.

The company’s data center footprint spans across 27 cities of Asia-Pacific, North and South America and Europe, enabling the company to provide globally consistent solutions for multinational customers.

The rise in global companies operating in China has increased the demand for data centers offering seamless connection to international wide-area networks, such as the new Yuanqu Data Center.

The Yuanqu Data Center will provide colocation, managed operation and network, including NTT Com’s Arcstar Global IP-VPN and Global e-VLAN services.

The services will be backed by Shanghai NTT Telecommunications Engineering Company’s around the clock customer support, offered in Japanese, Chinese and English.

Completely redundant facilities will be offered for commercial power supply, air conditioning, UPS, and electricity generation and distribution, with no single point of failure.

The data center will also use multiple carriers to provide backup connection and Internet access. NTT Com worked with China Telecom Shanghai on the design and construction of the data center based on NTT Com’s standards for excellent global data center services.

These standards cover a wide range of conditions totaling some 130 items. They are closely aligned with international standards including TIA, TUI and ASHRAE, as well as incorporate the NTT Com’s specialized knowledge and expertise in data-center management.

NTT Com delivers high-quality voice, data and IP services to customers around the world, including managed networks, hosting and IP networking services, as well as IPv6 transit technology.

Last week, NTT Com subsidiary NTT America announced it has enabled IPv6 backbone across Switch and Data’s colocation facilities.

The company’s extensive global infrastructure includes Arcstar private networks and a Tier 1 IP backbone, both reaching more than 150 countries, as well as secure data centers in Asia, North America and Europe.
