(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Following the announcement of its new 15,000-square-feet data center in Santa Clara earlier this week, NTT America (www.nttamerica.com) says it will open another new data center in Silicon Valley, according to a report by Data Center Knowledge.
According to Kazuhiro Gomi, chief operating officer of NTT America, says the company has another data center in San Jose that is the same size as the company’s new facility in Santa Clara.
Once the data center goes online, there will be three NTT America data centers in the Bay area.
Though Gomi would not say where either of the data centers are located exactly, he did disclose that both involve wholesale data center space in multi-tenant facilities.
Data Center Knowledge cites sources that say the Santa Clara space is in a building owned by Digital Realty Trust, while the San Jose space is at the new Fortune Data Centers facility.
Earlier this week, Data Center Knowledge also reported that the significant growth of Twitter largely contributed to NTT’s expansion.
The company confirmed that while the microblogging site’s growth certainly contributed to the new data center, it is all a part of NTT’s “overall growth pattern”.
In addition to its Silicon Valley data centers, the company also has data centers in Northern Virginia, having opened its second in October 2008.
NTT America is also considering expanding its data center footprint beyond nothern Virginia and Silicon Valley.
