January 17, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Global IP solution provider NTT America (nttamerica.com) announced that it has achieved a series of valued certifications to aid in the delivery of quality mid-market hosting services. The certifications received by its enterprise hosting division include the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 Type II, SysTrust and Safe Harbor.
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires that publicly held companies prove that they have controls in place to ensure a secure environment for data, and SAS 70 assure NTT America customers that these controls are in place. Both SAS 70 and SysTrust are third party validated certifications that ensure effective operational controls and system availability respectively, while the Safe Harbor certification provides for the protection of customer privacy.
“In addition to NTT America’s achievement as a Microsoft gold certified partner,” says Hideki Kurihara, GM of enterprise hosting for NTT America, “these certifications represent another major step in our effort to deliver operational excellence in three key areas: operational control, system availability, and privacy. We can assure customers that their business is protected in an outsourcing environment.”
For SAS 70, Type II certification, the independent examination performed by Ernst & Young, found NTT America’s controls are suitably designed, consistent and complied with to meet SAS 70 requirements. The auditor’s report is issued through guidance established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which places strict standards on a company’s controls and processes.
