Node4's Derby, UK data center, DC2.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK data center operator Node4 (www.node4.co.uk) announced on Wednesday it has began expanding its headquarters in Derby, UK, working on a new data center hall for the facility.
The new hall for DC1 is expected to be ready for the data center and communications specialists’ customers to move in early spring 2010.
The space will provide more opportunities for both new and existing Node4 customers to offer a full disaster recovery solution spread between Derby and Node4′s DC3 in Wakefield, which recently opened.
Alternatively, customers can use the new hall to colocate their business servers, says Node4.
The company will expand DC1 Hall 2 of the original Node4 data center, upgrading it to store another 80 racks to bring the total number of racks at the Derby site up to 300.
The new hall is being developed with the same high, Tier III specification as the company’s DC2, which is also located in Derby.
Meanwhile, the DC2 data center is now full to capacity due to the high demand seen this year.
