(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center management solutions firm nlyte Software (www.nlyte.com) announced on Wednesday it has closed $12 million in series C funding.

Led by NGEN Partners (www.ngenpartners.com), the capital will be used for expansion of operations, acceleration of product development, strengthening of the partner ecosystem and the hiring of staff.

Founded in 2001, NGEN is a pioneering investor in the clean technology sector. As part of the agreement, NGEN managing director Rosemary Ripley will join nlyte Software’s board of directors.

Existing investors Balderton Capital, Ruffer LLC and Montalcino Holdings also participated in the round.

nlyte Software’s DCIM solution helps data center and facilities managers optimize physical capacity including power, cooling and space.

The software provides customers with the information they need to make intelligent capacity planning decisions.

As a result of these decisions, customers can potentially decrease their data center operating expenses by 20 percent, decrease their time to deploy new assets by 50 percent, extend their data center life by up to 75 percent, and attain a Power Usage Effectiveness rating of 2.0 or less.

Earlier this year, nlyte provided ACS with its DCIM software to drive the company’s green program at its flagship green data center in Telford, UK.

“In the past year we have experienced record growth, accelerated customer acquisition, added valuable partnerships such as HP, BMC and VMware, won numerous product awards and delivered significant new product capability,” says Jon Temple, president and CEO of nlyte Software. “I am therefore thrilled to end an already memorable 2010 by attracting a leading Silicon Valley cleantech investor such as NGEN Partners and am very excited to join forces with them as we continue on our quest to help build a more environmentally responsible world, one data center at a time.”
