Nexway Distributes to Whole World Using CDNetworks

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Full-service content delivery network provider CDNetworks (www.cdnetworks.com) has expanded a strategic relationship with Nexway (www.nexway.com), a European online distributor of software and video games, extending the scope of its content delivery beyond Europe to the entire world.

According to CDNetwork’s Wednesday announcement, Nexway has also added CDNetworks’ “Web Acceleration” services, and is also participating in a mutual customer-referral program. Nexway provides turnkey e-commerce solutions for software providers and video-game publishers in more than 50 countries across the globe, including front-office, back-office, secure-payment functions, and an e-commerce distribution platform for content delivery.

“We searched all options for the best CDN solution to help us answer the demanding needs of on-line gaming and software delivery customers,” Nexway chief operating officer Franck Giroudon said in a statement. “It was important for us to find a partner who was able to respond to our global requirements. In all ways, CDNetworks was the perfect match.”

Founded in 2000 in Seoul, Korea, CDNetworks is Asia’s largest CDN and the third largest in the world, according to the company, including more than 80 full-service points of presence in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, and Australia. Its Content Acceleration Network provides speed, security, and reliability, with whole site acceleration, global downloads, and robust security.

“With CDNetworks, we found not only a robust CDN service provider with the highest quality of services, competitive pricing, a large network, and a global footprint, but also a true strategic partner that will share leads and ideas with us and help support our global expansion strategy,” Giroudon said. “Asian delivery was clearly an important factor following our Boonty acquisition. CDNetworks is, by far, the market leader in Asia.”

Nexway is among many regional software distributors that have chosen CDNetwork’s global CDN to bring their products online. Gamepot (www.gamepot.co.jp), which has rights to several popular Asian games, launched in the US, where it relies on CDNetworks to provide game client and patch download services, as well as global data center services for hosting its games.

With more than 500 software and game publisher partners, Nexway has achieved more than a million paid downloads in 2008. In January 2009, it acquired Asian game network Boonty (www.boonty.com), adding 400 casual game publishers to its network.

CDNetworks EMEA vice president Robert Gribnau said Nexway, as a member of the Top 100 of Deloitte Technology’s 2008 Fast 500 EMEA, is one of the world’s fastest growing technology companies. “Its focus on providing leading-edge technologies and services to its customers, white labeled and with no up-front costs, provides real value to expanding its customer base. The strategic relationship between Nexway and CDNetworks is a true win-win. We look forward to growing with them throughout the world.”
