December 14, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — NextWeb (nextweb.net), a fixed wireless network service provider, announced yesterday that several major hotel chain locations in the Bay Area, including Holiday Inn Express, Ramada Limited and Quality Inn, have selected NextWeb as the service provider for all hotel Internet traffic.
r

r

“Our high-speed fixed wireless Internet access service is an excellent
r

choice for the hospitality industry. With secure, reliable and scalable
r

connection speeds up to 10 Mbps, our solution allows hotels to add an
r

important and valuable amenity for their guests,” stated NextWeb CEO Graham
r

Barnes.
r

r

To provide expedient and personalized service to the hotels, NextWeb has
r

partnered with Kyber Networks (kybernetworks.com), which connects the NextWeb service to each of the guest and conference rooms. Kyber Networks
r

also handles service upgrades and ongoing local maintenance.
r

r

Ron Gapol, on-site general manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Dublin,
r

Calif., said, “By having an Internet connection in guest rooms, we’ve been
r

able to increase our guests’ satisfaction. For the bandwidth and price of
r

NextWeb’s service, what you’re really getting is a stable alternative to
r

both DSL and T1 lines.”
r

r

NextWeb’s says its service is 30 percent faster than a T1 at half the cost,
r

because it owns and operates its own network, bypassing the costs and delays
r

of the phone company.
