(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting service provider Nexcess.Net (www.nexcess.net) has announced an upcoming expansion of its popular e-commerce web hosting plan based around open-source e-commerce platform Magento (www.magentocommerce.com).
According to Nexcess’ Friday announcement, the new reseller plan will allow interested customers to resell Magento Secure Isolated Platform plans, which were launched in May 2009 as an integrated combination of Magento e-commerce software with optimized high-end hardware and software, guaranteeing speed, reliability and security.
“The SIP plans have really taken off,” Nexcess chief executive officer Chris Wells said in a statement. “They’re popular with both small and large clients, including Fortune 500 companies which we’ve signed deals with in the last few weeks. Even the official Magento demo stores have been moved to SIPs.”
Nexcess plans to begin offering a standardized SIP plan based around the Magento Enterprise platform within the next month. Each SIP reseller plan will provide resellers with five separate SIPs (approximately the same as a SIP100) at a discounted price. The reseller can then offer these SIP plans to their own clients.
“We’ve been offering shared hosting reseller plans for years now, and these are essentially the same blueprint, except with the Magento SIP architecture,” Wells said.
The emerging Magento platform has attracted a number of partnerships recently, adding value to the open-source e-commerce solution.
Earlier this week, web host and data center technical support and software development services provider Bobcares (www.bobcares.com) partnered with Magento to develop a platform that lets online merchants control their business processes without constraint. In doing so, India-based Bobcares became South Asia’s premier Magento Community Partner and Magento’s first partner in India.
Earlier in the year, San Antonio-based Rackspace Hosting (www.rackspace.com) announced it would provide it secure and scalable hosting to Magento’s enterprise customers, as well as its “Fanatical Support,” creating a professional, world-class environment.
