News Sites Weather Jackson Verdict

June 14, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet performance measurement provider Keynote Systems (keynote.com) said on Monday that it saw no degradation in the performance of news Web sites in the period leading up to and after the Michael Jackson verdict was announced.

The company said the normal speed and reliability of Web sites during the Michael Jackson verdict announcement showed that media companies understand what it takes to ready their sites for major events and the surges of traffic that accompany them.

The British Broadcasting Corporation said its story on the verdict received more than 500,000 page views in the first few hours of going live.

There were no reports of any of the world’s major news sites going down during the surge of traffic.
