(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Digital optical networking systems provider Infinera (www.infinera.com) announced on Wednesday the appointment of Andrew Bond-Webster as vice president of sales for Asia Pacific to enhance the company’s focus on marketing digital optical network solutions in the Asia Pacific region.

This appointment comes two weeks after Infinera named Deryck Robinson vice president of subsea sales.

Infinera says it has achieved success in the region with customers including Japan’s largest service provider NTT and independent service provider Pacnet.

“Infinera is the leading player worldwide in Digital Optical Networks and I am excited about the opportunity to take on this important role,” Bond-Webster said in a statement. “My top priorities are to create further value for our existing customers, take advantage of new business opportunities and establish a good network of partners to help facilitate our growth.  My goal is to drive and execute a business strategy that will help Infinera achieve sustainable long term revenue and margin growth across the region.”

Bond-Webster has more than 20 years of experience in the terrestrial and satellite communications industry. Prior to his appointment, he held various senior sales and marketing roles at technology suppliers and service providers in the Asia region, including Cable and Wireless and Equant Network Services.

“Operators in the Asia Pacific region face the challenge to achieve faster and more cost effective networks, and Infinera’s solutions have the exemplary product quality and the digital features that can deliver competitive advantages to customers in the region,” Ron Martin, Infinera’s senior vice president of Worldwide Sales stated. “With his excellent leadership skills, we are confident Andrew will help us drive the benefits of Digital Optical Networks further in the region.”
