Network Solutions Names New CEO

January 17, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Network Solutions (networksolutions.com) announced on Thursday it has named W. Roy Dunbar as its new CEO.

Dunbar will succeed Champ Mitchell as the company’s CEO, while Mitchell continues as the chairman of its board of directors. Before joining Network Solutions, Dunbar served as president of global technology and operations at MasterCard.

“It was clear to us that bringing an executive of Roy’s talent and experience to Network Solutions at a time when our business is strong and we are successfully executing our growth strategies will help propel Network Solutions on its growth trajectory,” says Mitchell. “He has proven leadership experience and expertise in technology and sales. I look forward to this new chapter in the history of our company, and to working with Roy and the board to build on our significant accomplishments.”

Network Solutions said last week that it isn’t “front-running” domain names, contrary to reports that claim otherwise, and that the practice that triggered the accusation is actually an attempt to counteract front-running from external threats.
