May 9, 2001 — Netscalibur (www.netscalibur.com), a leading provider of Internet services to businesses in Europe, announced on Wednesday that it had strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of three new executives.

The new appointments include Rick Hudson as Chief Operating Officer, formerly of Cable & Wireless, Chris Poulson as Chief Technology Officer, formerly Vice President of Infonet and AT&T Unisource Communications Services, and Andy Evans as Head of Strategy and Partnerships, formerly of FLAG Telecom.

As Director, IP Strategy and European ISP business at Cable & Wireless, Hudson led a $650 million acquisition initiative, which included the purchase and integration of 24 European Internet companies in 18 months. A year ago he was appointed Vice President of C & W Global Business Development.

Poulson joins Netscalibur to oversee the development and operation of the company?s technology infrastructure and network. His responsibilities will include service delivery and customer care. Poulson formerly led the European expansion of NaviSite, one of the top five Web hosting and managed services companies in the US, as General Manager Europe. Prior to that, he hele the position of Vice President Internet Sales and Director of Internet Operations at AT&T Unisource Communications Services, now known as Infonet.

Evans, as Executive Vice President at FLAG Telecom, developed the turnaround and growth strategy that led to that company?s successful IPO, as well as leading the company?s worldwide marketing activities and developing major partnerships and alliances.

The London-based Netscalibur says it is part of a new breed of pan-European company. With $235 million in backing, the company says it is challenging large, privatized telcos in an attempt to redraw the economics of business IP services in Europe.

According to Netscalibur, talent is the scarcest resource in the industry, so its strategy is to invest in brains. The company says it is the first IP services provider designed from the start as pan-European, a fact that gives it a competitive advantage in the European IP services market.

Less than a year old, Netscalibur has already built a strong platform for growth in a Western European market that IDC predicts will double in the next three years from $5.6 billion to $11.2 billion. The company has operations in Italy, Germany and the UK with a staff of 370 serving 12,000 enterprise, corporate and ISP customers and producing revenues of $40 million in 2000.
