October 31, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Netfirms (netfirms.com) announced on Wednesday it has seen a high demand for its MultiPlatform technology since it launched in February. Web developers are drawn to MultiPlatform hosting technology because the platform enables them to use both Microsoft Windows and Linux-based Web development tools simultaneously, says Netfirms.
Netfirms recently surveyed 1,000 customers, inquiring which features they felt were most important in their decision to use Netfirms MultiPlatform. The results showed that Microsoft features, including MSSQL, ASP.Net 2.x and ASP.Net 1.x were most important. For Linux features, Web developers ranked PHP 4/5 and MySQL as most important.
Overall, Windows and Linux MultiPlatform features were deemed most important to Web developers when selecting a Web host, taking precedence over price, online research and advice from colleagues or friends. The results of this survey indicate that Web developers strongly emphasize the flexibility of being able to use Microsoft Windows and Linux features on one single account, says the company.
Netfirms Multiplatform is available on Netfirms Business and Netfirms Enterprise hosting plans starting at $14.95 per month, which include ASP.NET 1.0 and 2.0, SQL Server 2005, Apache, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, Perl and PHP. Customers who select the Netfirms Business plan can build their website with both Microsoft and Linux functionality as well as receive 300GB of disk space, 3,000GB transfer, five free domain names, email, e-commerce, statistics and round-the-clock customer support.
The Web host announced last week it received extremely positive feedback regarding its Netfirms Green energy saving program since it launched in July.
