Netfirms Green Program Well-Received

October 24, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian Web hosting provider Netfirms (netfirms.com) announced on Tuesday that it has received extremely positive feedback regarding its Netfirms Green energy saving program since it launched in July.

The Web host uses energy efficient servers to power its customer websites. Environmentally responsible small businesses are attracted to Netfirms because the company conserves energy in its data centers and corporate offices, says the company.

Netfirms recently surveyed 5,000 customers about what their businesses are doing to help the environment. Results showed that environmentally responsible small businesses are hosting their websites at Netfirms because of the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. Ninety percent of customers say that using a green Web host is part of their businesses’ green program.

“The overwhelmingly positive response we’ve had to our green program makes it clear that using a green Web host is important to small businesses,” says Thomas Savundra, president of Netfirms. “As a way of acknowledging environmental leadership in the Netfirms community, we’ve started showcasing environmentally responsible customers on our website. Our goal is to encourage more businesses to take additional steps toward helping the environment.”

Netfirms announced last month that selling products through online stores is becoming more and more popular among small businesses in the United States.
